Join me on a bespoke 1-2-1 photography field based practical tuition. Suitable for any level of photographer.

Photograph landscapes in England, Wales or the mountains of Scotland. I provide several options for locations completely tailored to your needs. These can be just a single day workshop or multiple days of exploring. Reach out and we can build your perfect itinerary! 

I offer tuitions in various regions of Scotland including Glencoe and Lochaber, Assynt, Torridon.

What to expect

Workshops are designed to accommodate photographers of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced enthusiasts. While the weather can be unpredictable and changeable, my goal is to teach you how to stay creative and make the most of any conditions you encounter. We will set out early in the morning and return late in the evening, so please be prepared for an intensive, full day dedicated entirely to photography. The level of physical fitness required will depend on the specific location we visit, but I am happy to tailor the experience to suit your personal needs and comfort. Here is the creative list we will go through:

  • Translating photography into art.

  • Building a deep and intimate relationship with nature involves spending meaningful time outdoors, observing its subtle details, and developing a genuine appreciation for its beauty and complexity.

Learning Content

Prior to your workshop we will have a discussion about the location and weather, We will discuss your desired learning outcomes for the day, for example any specific techniques you would like to learn. During the day itself we will explore and connect to the landscape we photograph.

On a typical workshop our discussion and learning points usually include:

  • Composition & Techniques

  • Understanding Light, Colour and Contrast

  • Understanding The Mountain Landscape

  • Visual Storytelling

FAQ & Pricing

  • Prices vary depending upon the duration of the 1-2-1 Tuition. I offer half-day or full day 1-21 Tuition in order to accommodate the optimal daylight hours for taking photographs in the different seasons.

    Itinerary shall be agreed well in advance of the 1-2-1 Tuition, this can change during the time leading up to the Tuition and on the day depending on the weather.

    Half day - £140 (4 hours) you can add extra persons for £50 per person (Limited to 3 total)

    Full day - £280 (8 hours) you can add extra persons for £50 per person (Limited to 3 total)

    When making your enquiry and booking, I suggest that you consider your preferred time of the year and day that you would like to be out taking photographs (sunrise/sunset)

    Back-to-back bookings can be done if you wish to spend more time with me in the field (for example, two Full Day workshops)

    • 4 hour session, learning about composition and various different skills

    • Visiting iconic locations and unique locations with local knowledge

    • Personalised learning process

    • 4 hour session can either be booked for sunrise or sunset, this may vary depending on the weather

    • 8 hour session, learning about composition and various different skills

    • Visiting iconic locations and unique locations with local knowledge

    • 4 or 8 hour session can either be booked for sunrise or sunset, this may vary depending on the weather

    • 8 hour tuition can be split 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours for sunset

  • Excluded:

    • Insurance (health, accident, and equipment damage)

    • Accommodation (recommendations can be given on request)

    • Food and refreshments (recommendations can be given what supplements to take in the mountains)

    • Suitable clothing, walking shoes and tripods are your own responsibility (Information sheet can be send on request to get you prepared for the weather in advance)
